Aanii, boozhoo, wachey, kwe kwe, tansi. Ziibikwe dishnicaz. Michipicoten First Nation doonjibaa. North Bay doondaa. Anishinaabe kwe ndow.
Ziibikwe/ Brittnay (she/her/hers) is a queer artist from Michipicoten First Nation. She has been cultivating her talents as a traditional Indigenous artisan for the past 10 years. Ziibikwe practices creating in many forms including; woodland style painting, sewing ribbon skirts, ribbon shirts & bags, drum making, moccasin making, graphic design and specializes in beadwork (brick stitch, applique, ladder stitch, peyote, and her personal favourite style is two needle beading). Ziibikwe’s art passions include storytelling through her artistic depictions, healing through creative expression, and crafting wellness through art. Ziibikwe has worked as a cultural artist consultant and has had her beadwork featured in a National Campaign learning series titled “Food Is Our Medicine” launched by Nourish. She has also created custom commissions for Canadore College, Anishinabek Nation, an Individual private practice counselling office and art collectors across Canada. Ziibikwe has facilitated artistry workshops teaching beadwork styles, and sewing traditional clothing for Nipissing University, Anishinabek Nation as well as through independent workshops.
Ziibikwe loves to share her passion with others to create spiritual wellness and healing through her artwork.
